MARY BUSTIN CONSERVATION

Preventive Conservation

preventive.jpg

Small interventions early in the life of a painting can make a huge difference to its preservation. We offer a range of preventive measures:
Conservation framing involving secure fitting in the frame, backboards, and glazed micro environments.
Stretcher bar linings (cami linings) to minimise flapping in large canvases
Blind panels and buffers to minimise crack-development
Advice on Care of Collections including display hanging, lighting, environmental conditions, handling, packing for transportation and storage.

We believe that it is important that the painting fulfils its intended role within its home context. Whether it is a modern art installation in a museum or an altarpiece in a working church environment. Our conservation advice, including preventive measures, is tailored to facilitate and support the continuing intended use of the painting.
